Our

Offers help to parishioners who have lost a family member. Some
services include house sitting during funeral services, lunch
prepared and served after the service, etc.
BIRTHRIGHT

Pro-life emergency pregnancy service, staffed by volunteers,
offering alternatives to abortion. Services are free to clients
and are confidential. Volunteers may serve in the office, donate
maternity clothes and/or baby clothes, health care items, and/or
help with fund-raisers.
Meetings: 3rd Thursday - alternate months
Expectations: office volunteers will serve 3 hours per week
with another person.
Training: 4-part training for office volunteers.

Classes cover a basic study of our Catholic faith for adults who
wish to join the Catholic church or for Catholics who wish to
learn more about their faith, sponsor a catechumen, or help teach

Established in memory of a parish member, funds are used to help

CURSILLO

The purpose of the Cursillo movement is to bring about a change in
the environment and to bring Jesus Christ into the world.
Cursillistas (those who have gone through the 3 days and are still
living the Cursillo method) become agents for change in their
families, work places, neighborhoods, social gatherings, etc.
Cursillitas become those in the Christian community who link
together with others to bring about a positive change in the
world.

DEVOTION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Approximately one hour of prayer in devotion to the Sacred Heart.
Prayer booklets are provided. The leader initiates the prayer with
responses from the group.

Each minister is expected to serve one Mass, approximately twice

HOMEWORKS

This program is for Catholic and other Christian youth to serve
God by helping their neighbor. Teens and adults work with
economically poor households to help create a better human
dwelling by providing assistance with home repairs and
improvements. This week-long program is ”Spirit-filled”, with
prayer being an important element.

HOSPITALITY/WELCOME

This ministry encourages a welcoming family atmosphere. Letters
are sent to new parishioners, followed by a phone call. A social
event is held for newcomers each month and refreshments are
served, in the Narthex, on the 3rd Sunday of each month to greet
new members - photographs of new members are on display on a
bulletin board during this Sunday.
J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) GROUP

This group meets to socialize and share Christian beliefs with one
another and the surrounding community. It is a relationship of
people who realize that the experience and wisdom that comes with
age are assets to the parish and community. The members live by
the adage, ”If you rest you rust.”

and with youth. They raise money to support these efforts. They
also help the mentally challenged through their annual Tootsie
Roll Drive.

fund-raisers, social activities and parish functions. They also

This spiritually grounded group fosters devotion to Mary by doing

at home or in the hospital, evangelization, working in religious

meetings)

and discussions on a different subject each month to help discover

PASTORAL COUNCIL
This Council serves as the visionary group for the parish and acts
as a consultative group with the pastor to show sensitivity to

Prayer petitions and needs are relayed to an extended network of
people who pray for those particular petitions and needs.
PRISON MINISTRY

Each week several correctional institutions for men and women are
visited to respond to the Lord's invitation, " I was in prison and
you visited me." ( Matt. 25:35-36) These visits include a
communion service and catechesis. Various times during the week
are available to help with this most rewarding ministry.
RESPECT LIFE

place respect life notes in the Sunday bulletin, host a monthly
Respect Life Mass, and invite a special guest to speak annually.

As of 6/9/97, this group dedicated to providing rosaries to anyone
in need, has assembled and donated approximately 40,000 rosaries
throughout the parish, the diocese and to overseas missions.
