SENIOR HIGH YOUTH MINISTRY

Sr. High Youth Ministry is a social, spiritual and service based ministry. All youth in grades 9-12 are part of Youth Ministry.  Youth may participate in the following areas:

SPIRITUAL/SOCIAL

YOUTH GROUP:  Sunday evenings 6:15-7:30 pm Room #8 of the Croghan Center.  Meetings are led by the youth with adult advisors as support.  We seek to deal with contemporary issues and how they affect our faith.  Our primary focus is getting to know Jesus and find Him in our everyday lives.

BIBLE STUDY – Tuesday evenings 7 pm - at the Hudacko’s home – call for directions 407-3385.  Bible study is led by the youth with adult advisors as support.

Other opportunities for Spiritual formation include the Diocesan Youth Conference and Retreat/Prayer Experiences.

Social Activities include:

·         Annual Ski Trip – End of January Early February  – Winterplace, West Virginia

·         Pizza nights

·         Super Bowl Party

·         Scavenger hunt

·         Carowinds

ervice/Ministry

All Senior Youth are invited and encouraged to become involved in the life the parish.  At present youth are involved in the following ministries as:

Ushers

Religious Education Catechists

Eucharistic Ministers

Lectors

Music/Choirs

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Scripture Study

Confirmation Peer Leaders

Acolytes

Theatre Ministry

Youth also assist with a canned food drive in October, St. Vincent DePaul Thanksgiving Basket Give-Away, adopting a family at Christmas, Salvation Army Stocking/Bear Program, Souper Bowl Sunday, Easter Egg Hunt for the children of the parish, Silhouette Stations of the Cross during Lent.

FUND RAISERS

The youth also have the opportunity to participate in fundraisers to offset the cost of their activities.    This is how the fundraisers work: At every fundraiser 25% of the funds raised are put into a Youth Crisis Fund.  The remaining 75% of the funds are divided by the total number of hours worked by all the youth, which gives us an hourly wage rate.  That wage rate is then multiplied by the number of hours each youth works to give a fund-raiser wage.  This wage is then applied to the number of hours a youth has worked the fund-raiser.  Youth may use the funds for any CHURCH related activity i.e. Ski trip, Diocesan Event, etc.  If there is a remaining balance when the youth graduates the balance is passed on to younger sibling or absorbed into the Crisis Fund.
